I am a Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist registered with UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy). I am also a member of CPJA (Council for Psychoanalytic and Jungian Analysts).

Psychotherapy can facilitate the discovery of underlying reasons that have contributed to current or ongoing difficulties in your life. If these difficulties are becoming increasingly less easy to contain or manage, this may be affecting how you feel and interfere with your ability to have positive interactions and relationships with others.

You may have had to bury feelings associated with difficult experiences, sometimes since childhood, in order to get on with and manage life. Although these feelings are not always present, or even consciously apparent, they interfere with your ability to find contentment or happiness.

Our work together can help you to investigate the origins of your anxiety and discomfort to more deeply understand what has brought you to where you are now and to overcome what is preventing you from moving forward in a positive way.

If you are finding current events in your life particularly challenging and feel that support during a difficult phase in your life would be helpful or have been struggling for some time and want to understand why, Psychotherapy may be a suitable option for you.

I am committed to providing a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for you to talk and where psychological pain is acknowledged.

It can be difficult to take the first steps towards starting therapy. You may be unsure of what to expect, wonder whether you will feel safe and be uncertain about what will be expected of you in sessions. I am always happy to answer any questions you have to allow you to feel comfortable and to give you a sense of what therapy may be like and what to expect. I welcome this opportunity because I want you to feel safe in taking the first steps needed to experience your own therapeutic journey.

An initial assessment appointment, which takes place at the beginning of a period of therapy, is also an opportunity for you to find out more about what therapy will be like and to ask any questions you may have.

My experience has included providing Individual and Group Psychotherapy within the NHS, Individual Psychotherapy in Educational settings, and Individual and Couples Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in Private Practice.

I have experience in helping clients who have experienced difficulties with:

  • Overwhelming feelings
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Panic Attacks
  • Feeling out of Control
  • Feeling of Loneliness
  • Depression
  • Addiction
  • Trauma
  • Abuse
  • Interpersonal and relationship difficulties
  • Menopause
  • Mid Life crisis
  • Identity issues
  • Bereavement and Loss
  • Low self esteem
  • Redundancy/job loss
  • Workplace issues
  • Anger issues
  • Repetitive or chronic physical health problems
as well as other issues and challenges.

I am always willing to discuss the therapy I offer so you are able to make an informed decision whether working with me feels comfortable and appropriate for you.

I attend supervision and Professional Development training on a regular basis, throughout the year, as I believe expanding my knowledge and keeping up to date with current developments in Psychotherapy and mental and emotional health issues is important.
