Anuska Casas Pinto, Psychodynamic Couple and Individual Psychotherapist
“Couples therapy is not about deciding who is right or wrong. It is about creating a space where both partners can be heard, and difficult feelings can be explored. Understanding what happens between you is the first step towards changing it.”

Relationships can bring out our deepest hopes, but also our deepest fears. Sometimes the same arguments return, distance grows, or it becomes difficult to feel heard and understood. Beneath these difficulties, patterns may have developed over time, shaped by our earliest relationships, experiences and expectations.
Couples therapy offers a space to slow these patterns down and begin to understand what is happening between you. Together, we can begin to understand the relationship differently, make sense of what keeps repeating, and create new possibilities for connection, intimacy and change.
About me
I am a qualified couples therapist, trained at London’s Tavistock Relationships (TR), the leading training organisation in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
My approach is warm, thoughtful and encouraging. I believe therapy should be a space where you can feel heard without judgement, explore difficult things at your own pace, and perhaps even find moments of humour along the way. Therapy does not need to feel cold, overly formal or intimidating.
I am interested in people from all walks of life and backgrounds. I welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship styles, and offer an inclusive space where you can feel comfortable bringing your whole self.
What Is Couples Therapy About?
Relationships can become difficult for many reasons. You may find yourselves having the same arguments repeatedly, struggling to communicate, feeling distant from one another, or caught between wanting closeness and needing space. Sometimes it can be difficult to understand why things that seem small become so emotionally charged.
From a psychoanalytic perspective, couples therapy looks beyond the immediate disagreement to explore the feelings, expectations and experiences that may be shaping the relationship. We can begin to think about how past relationships and experiences influence the way we respond to one another in the present. The aim is not to create a perfect relationship, but to help you develop a relationship in which there is greater understanding, emotional connection and freedom to be yourselves.
Individual Therapy With a Focus on Relationships
Sometimes, difficulties in a relationship can leave us feeling anxious, overwhelmed, lonely, angry or unsure of ourselves. At other times, we may notice the same patterns appearing across different relationships without quite understanding why. Individual therapy provides a private space to explore these experiences at your own pace.
Whether you are experiencing difficulties in a current relationship, recovering from a painful breakup, struggling to establish healthy boundaries, or simply wanting to understand yourself better in relationships, therapy can provide a supportive space to reflect and make sense of what you are experiencing.
What to expect
An initial consultation gives us time to understand what has brought you to therapy, consider what you hope to work on, and think together about whether psychodynamic couples therapy feels like the right approach for you. The initial consultation is 75 minutes, and the fee is £150 for couples and £120 for individuals.
If we decide to work together, we can meet online or in person. Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place on the same day and time each week. I believe that regularity and rhythm are an important part of the therapeutic process, providing continuity and a consistent space in which the work can develop. The fee for ongoing sessions is £120 for couples and £90 for individuals.
As your regular weekly appointment is reserved specifically for you, the session will be invoiced at the usual fee should you need to cancel. However, I understand that unexpected things can happen and I will try to offer an alternative appointment where possible.
