She employs the Integrative approach within her work. She uses a combination of theories, those being psychodynamic, Person-Centred and CBT. In addition, she can also utilise Transactional Analysis and Motivational Interventions to help both the client and Jennifer expand on comprehension of the issue. The last approach features aspects of CBT and Solutions Based Theory which she can use for short-term periods of counselling. She applies the theories which will best suit the client’s issue.

My experience working with NHS and MIND shaped my practice where I strive to offer an equitable and consistent level of care and understanding because I appreciate and respect the courage involved for a client to share their issues and thoughts with another. I invite the client to work collaboratively to enable us to comprehend the issue honestly and from experience. The gained insight can provide the client with a sense of autonomy and tranquillity. Being able to see how a situation or an issue was maintained over a period of time can provide clarity and create the opportunity to positively affect and even diffuse harboured feelings.” Jennifer Brown

Jennifer is a grounded character who can bring a sense of calm to situations and this is an important aspect which she involves within the dynamic between the client and herself.

Some of the issues she works with:

Anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship problems, low self-esteem, work-related stress/stress, social anxiety, trauma, low confidence, trauma.

Approaches:

An integrative approach, Psychodynamic, Person Centred, CBT, Motivational Interventions, Transactional analysis, Inner Family system

Couple Counselling Approach:

“In my experience when working with couples or even an individual who has requested that their partner be allowed to sit in on a session, one of the aims has been to obtain insight and understanding in relation to the establishment and maintenance of an issue. Again my collaborative method of working means the client, couple or an individual, is offered the opportunity to stop, step back and consider the issue’s effect on the quality of their lives.” Jennifer Brown

The use of the Intersystem Approach amongst others means she is with others able to obtain, in conjunction with the client, a comprehensive overview of not just the presenting issue but the client themselves. She believes that the truth and honesty needed in this process can initially be hard and bitter pills to swallow but they can produce a type of healing. It could also be considered the growth that clients can gain to emotionally and mentally affect their relationships with themselves and others positively.

Able to work with young adults, (18+), Adults, Older Adults
